Police arrest 14-year-old after spotting suspected stolen off-road bike

Police have arrested a teenage boy who was riding a suspected stolen off-road bike.
Officers had spotted the bike on Tuesday 19 August, seeing there were three males wearing balaclavas on board and no number plate.
Two officers followed the vehicle, then detained one of the trio at a petrol station on Maple Road, Offerton.
This was a 14-year-old boy, who was arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle, handling stolen goods, and possession of a presumed class B drug.
He has since been bailed while further investigations take place.
The bike was also recovered - it's believed to have been stolen around one week prior.
The officers from Greater Manchester Police had been out on patrol as part of Operation Venture - this operation aims to tackle the 'underlying causes' of violence using police patrols in hotspot areas.
Inspector Joseph Barron, from GMP's Operation Venture team, said: "This was a great bit of work by officers within the Venture team, who were able to follow the vehicle before calmly approaching the group and detaining one of them.
"We are fully aware of the issues that e-bikes and off-road vehicles cause within communities, and we are always proactively targeting those who use them in an illegal or dangerous manner."
