Greater Manchester Police are appealing for information following a fatal traffic accident in Marple Bridge, Stockport on Friday. 

A car collided with a 70-year-old pedestrian on Town Street near the junction with Hollins Lane at approximately 5:10pm. 

Despite the best efforts of emergency services, the man sadly passed away. 

The 54-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested on suspicion of causing death by careless driving. 

He has since been released under investigation. 

Police are calling for any witnesses to the incident - including those who may have provided first aid - or anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the collision to come forward.
