Police are appealing for information after a woman was followed and harassed by a man after catching a bus.

The woman had got on the 192 bus from Stepping Hill Hospital to Mersey Square on Wellington Road at around 10.25am on Tuesday 4 August 2026.

While riding the bus, she noticed she was being stared at by a man.

He asked whether she was engaged, and he continued to stare at her for the duration of the bus journey.

When the woman got off the bus at Mersey Square, the suspect got off too and followed her across the square and into a shop, where she hid until he left.

She said the incident left her very distressed.

Officers have now released an image of a man they would like to speak to, as it is believed he could assist with enquiries.
