Plans have been submitted to convert and build new houses on the site of the former Deanwater Hotel in Woodford.
Plans involve the conversion / alteration of the existing house and barn on the site, plus the construction of nine new homes.
If approved, the development would comprise 12 homes in total - one in the converted grade-II listed barn, two in the converted hotel, and nine new semi-detached and detached dwellings.
The buildings would be a mix of three, four and five bed homes. Both the construction and conversion would aim to be as sympathetic as possible with the existing heritage of the site, the applicant says.
The Deanwater Hotel closed on 18 November 2023. The main building was built in the 19th century, whilst the barn dates from the 17th century.
It sits on Wilmslow Road, roughly between Woodford and Wilmslow.
The applicant argues: "The proposed development will deliver 12 high-quality homes and will reinstate green space within the site to provide a scheme that is more appropriate to its setting.
"Furthermore, the development has been designed to sit broadly on the footprint of the existing buildings to be demolished, and the proposed dwellings have been generously spaced to allow views between them to the landscape beyond.
"The proposals will deliver an appropriate redevelopment of the former Deanwater Hotel site, which respects the character and appearance of the area."
The existing access to the site would be retained, with minimal traffic impact expected.
The new buildings would be a mix of two to three storey houses, finished in red brick and white render.
The plans have been submitted on behalf of PH Property Holdings, which is described as " the leading luxury house builder in the [North West] region".
A decision on the plans is expected by the end of December.
