Plans approved for new Domino's pizza takeaway in Gatley
Plans for a new Domino's pizza takeaway in Gatley have been approved.
The new takeaway will occupy 74-76 Church Road, the site of a vacant hardware shop.
Opening hours will be from 11am-11pm.
Visitors would be expected to use the existing on-street spaces outside the building; the applicant argues that those arriving in cars would not be expected to spend more than 10 minutes collecting their food.
The applicant similarly anticipates that staff will either walk or use public transport to get to work.
As stated in a planning document: "The existing volume of parking within the immediate vicinity of the unit is considered sufficient to accommodate customers, staff and deliveries [...] and will not exacerbate highway safety issues in the surrounding area."
The takeaway would also aim to generate "a number of full-time and part-time jobs recruited from the local area".
Making a case for the plans, the applicant said: "The introduction of a takeaway in this location is considered acceptable, given that there are existing takeaways present in the Gatley Local Centre, the closest being approximately 60 metres north east of the application site at 60 Church Road.
"This demonstrates that the centre is an appropriate location for supporting town centre uses such as takeaways, but there are sufficient separation distances."
They added: "The change of use will not detract from residential amenity, produce an adverse impact on the vitality and viability of the centre or exacerbate any highways safety issues.
"The change of use will also reinstate an active use and improve the appearance of a shopfront within the Local Centre to support the vitality of the area, generate footfall and producing job opportunities for local residents."
The building's frontage would remain largely the same, besides a few minor alterations to match the typical Domino's takeaway design.
The new layout would feature 12 square metres of public space, out of a total of 132 square metres in the building as a whole.
