Plans have been submitted to convert a former hardware shop in Cheadle into a new coffee shop / deli / wine bar.

The site in question is based at Old Rectory Gardens, which the planning application describes as "a busy shopping district [...] a stone's throw from Cheadle high street".

It is proposed that the new venue would offer craft coffee and baked goods during the day, and quality wine and cheese in the evening.

The applicant suggests that daytime trading would offer a 'community space' for parents, retired people, and those working from home.

"[The eatery] looks to create a quality outlet intended to be a blend of retail and 'dine in' experience", the applicant said.

"The change would compliment the various business types also with the context.

"This specific site would serve the Cheadle community well, particularly with it being a high quality family-run venue and proximity to the residential areas within walking distance."

The proposed opening hours are 12pm-11pm from Tuesday to Saturday, 2-11pm on Sundays and bank holidays, and closed on Monday.

The consultation expiry dates for this application are Sunday 24 March for non-neighbours and 25 March for neighbours.

A decision is expected in April.
