Plans have been shared to build 125 new homes in part of Stockport.

Miller Homes is hoping to build the properties on a piece of land located off Moor Lane in Woodford.

Planning reports sent to Stockport councils say the area is currently used for farming and is an 'obvious location' for this type of development.

It states that the area is a 'sustainable location, close to a range of services and facilities.'

It adds: 'Bramhall Local Centre is approximately 1.3km to the north which offers a range of services and facilities, including restaurants, banks, convenience stores, cafés, post offices and supermarket.

'To the southeast is the consented Local Centre at Woodford Garden Village which has permission for a convenience store, commercial units and flexible commercial space.'

The proposal is close to the A555 Manchester Airport Eastern Link Road, which links to the Wilmslow-Handforth Bypass with access towards Manchester city centre.

Plans sent to Stockport council state the development would include around 125 homes, open space and landscaping, with access from Moor Lane.

The report continues: 'The nearest rail stations to the site are in Poynton and Bramhall. Both stations are served by Northern Rail services between Manchester Piccadilly, Stockport, Macclesfield and Stoke-on-Trent.'

It also added that the developer is currently at the stage of gathering pre-application advice, with an outline planning application for the proposed development to be submitted.

Elsewhere in Stockport, plans were shared in January for a major expansion of the Woodford Garden Village, with Harrow Estates hoping to build more than 500 properties in the Stockport village across 35 hectares of land within Stockport's green belt.

These will be made up of a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, and houses with three, four and five bedroom options. Half of the proposed homes would be designated as affordable housing, with social rent and affordable ownership tenures.
