Train staff working at rail operator CrossCountry have suspended strike action on Saturday 1 November.
It means that the operator will be running its full schedule as usual, with 'significant disruption' no longer expected.
CrossCountry runs trains on the busy Birmingham to Manchester route which includes Stockport.
The strikes are being organised by the RMT union (the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers).
Shiona Rolfe, Managing Director at CrossCountry, said: “We are pleased that RMT has suspended planned strike action this Saturday 1 November, and we look forward to welcoming passengers on board.
"Thanks must also go to colleagues who have worked tirelessly to reinstate a full timetable on Saturday, to make sure people can get to where they need to be.
“Engineering work on parts of the network will still mean some changes to journeys – if you’re planning to travel this Saturday, please check your journey before setting off.”
