A person has been pronounced dead at Gatley railway station.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 12.50pm this afternoon (Tuesday 23 June), following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

The incident is not being treated as suspicious, British Transport Police has said.

The railway line between Manchester Piccadilly and Manchester Airport is currently closed, with 'major' disruption expected until around 3pm.

The routes and destinations affected from Piccadilly are Crewe, Windermere / Barrow-in-Furness, Blackpool North, Liverpool Lime Street, and Manchester Airport.
