Prepare to party like it's 1324, as a medieval music event heads to Chadkirk in Romiley.
On Monday 27 May, at the historic Chadkirk Chapel, music group Archaedium will perform.
This duo specialises in historic music, from the medieval era through to Victorian times. Their aim is to be as immersive as possible - they perform authentic music, on immaculately researched replica instruments, and in full historical costume.
It is about as close as we might get in the modern day to how our ancestors experienced music.
On the day, the musicians will perform three sets of 25 minutes each.
During the first set, players will introduce each instrument to the audience, explain it, and then play a medieval tune.
The second is a family-friendly 'minstrel school' set, where the musicians hand out classroom percussion and teach children some rhythms to play along. Everyone sings a song together, learns a dance, and may finish with a parade.
The final set is a 'mediaeval chillout' set of beautiful music to send everyone home with a smile on their faces. In addition, there will be a meet and greet by the entrance on pipes and drum.
The event as a whole will run from 12noon to 4pm.
Admission is free, but the organisers at Chadkirk expect this to be a busy day so seats in the chapel will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
Wine, plus hot and cold drinks, snacks and cakes, will be on sale. Note that all children must be accompanied by a responsible adult.
