It's top marks for the neonatal team at Stepping Hill Hospital, which recently received the top level of national accreditation for their model of care.
'Neonatal' refers to the first 28 days of life - the team, then, looks after Stockport's very newest residents!
The team was recognised for its following of the 'Family Integrated Care' model. It aims to ensure a close relationship between midwives and families, setting up parents with the best possible knowledge to move into the next stages of raising their young ones.
In the words of an NHS spokesperson, this model "ensures parents, baby and wider family members can be a family as soon as possible; creating space for necessary medical care whilst helping the nurturing bond and love they can provide for their baby".
The Stepping Hill team received the top Green accreditation in Family Integrated Care following an independent assessment from the North West Neonatal Operational Delivery Network.
The assessors said the Stockport neonatal team had made "great strides" in family integrated care and should be commended on their achievements.
Nicola Pendlebery, Neonatal Sister and FICare lead for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said "Everyone in the team is really pleased we've been given the top level of accreditation, which shows our absolute commitment to providing this innovative form of care. We look forward to providing this care for many more babies and families in the future."
