New neighbourhood cafe opens in Stockport town centre
By Alasdair Perry 15th Mar 2026
A new neighbourhood cafe has opened in Stockport Underbanks.
Convene, based at 17 Lower Hillgate, is offering specialty coffee, bakes, and a delicious menu focussed on seasonal cooking.
It means that customers will be treated to a selection of dishes which changes with the seasons, so you can be comforted in chilly winters or refreshed in balmy summers.
Among the options on the menu at the moment are luxury sausage and bacon rolls, wild mushrooms and miso eggs benedict, banana bread French toast, and much more (you can browse more options on the Convene Instagram page here).
Convene opened on Friday 6 March, and has already proved to be popular with customers.
"The community here is so lovely and welcoming", owner Isabella explained. "And everyone is welcome here, as well."
Indeed, Convene already seems like an Underbanks mainstay, fitting right in with its luxurious deep red exterior and cosy inside layout.
The cafe will also be supporting the broader Stockport community by sourcing produce from local suppliers.
Speaking on social media, the team at Convene said: "We couldn't be more proud or excited to share with you what we've created, slowly building a space that feels like home, not just to us but to you too. Being able to work with local producers and suppliers, ones that we've had good relationships with for years, is a real honour.
"This menu is going to follow the seasons thoughtfully, we'll be introducing weekly changing specials; as well as a plant based menu and one for little Convenes too."
Convene is open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 9am until 3pm each day.
