A new Lidl is opening in Stockport this week.

The new store, based at 111 Wellington Road North in Heaton Norris, will open on Thursday 5 November.

It will be accessed via Sparthfield Road off the A6, and will include 98 parking spaces for customers.

Crews have been working on the site, which was formerly a car dealership, since 2025.

Planning reports from when Lidl was submitting an application to build here argue that the new supermarket would 'not give rise to a severe effect on highway operation or unacceptable effect on highway safety,' and that people visiting the shop could also make use of public transport on the A6.

Lidl is a major German discount supermarket chain, with 12,600 stores internationally in 31 different countries.
