A new independent florist is opening soon in the Merseyway shopping centre.

Named 'Sweet Bud', it will open in the outdoor section of the Merseyway this Autumn.

It'll be the only independent florist in Stockport town centre, the last having closed several years ago.

Originally based out of a studio in Levenshulme, the business has made a name for itself at weddings, events and more, working with clients such as the BBC, Penguin Publishing, Old Trafford cricket ground, and more.

This move to Stockport marks an exciting new chapter, as founder Olivia Woodward explains.

"I've loved Stockport for years and seen it transform into such a vibrant, exciting place", she said.

"There's a real buzz here with more independents opening all the time and with Stockport town centre currently without a florist, it felt like the perfect home for Sweet Bud.

"The support of the Merseyway team, along with amazing neighbours like Søstrene Grene and Stockroom, made the decision even easier!"

Olivia says her mission is "to boost moods, create art and provide a sustainable choice of floristry in Manchester.

"Our style is modern, unusual, artistic and eco conscious."

Victoria Nichol, Centre Manager at Merseyway, added: "We can't wait to welcome Sweet Bud to Merseyway. The arrival of a high-quality independent florist will further enhance our tenant mix and demonstrates the growing strength of Stockport's retail offer.

"This letting reflects the appeal of the newly improved open-air section of the centre, which continues to attract both national brands and distinctive independents.

"Sweet Bud will bring something fresh and creative to Merseyway and we're confident it will be well received by our visitors."

Cllr Micheala Meikle, Stockport Council's cabinet member for economy and regeneration, also said the arrival was "another fantastic example of independent businesses choosing Stockport as the place to grow".

"I wish them every success", Cllr Meikle added.

"We're building a town centre full of variety and vibrancy.

"It's this dynamic offer that is making Stockport a destination of choice for shopping, culture and leisure – and it's a clear sign that our £1bn regeneration is delivering - attracting investment, supporting enterprise and creating a place where people want to shop, visit and spend time."
