Cheadle Hulme School has received a 'first class' report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI), just as it also welcomes a new headteacher.

The report was compiled after a three-day inspection in March 2024. It praised the 'self-confidence', 'strong moral foundations' and 'respectful' nature of the pupils.

The report also praised 'effective teaching', 'inclusive atmosphere',

The ISI is similar to Ofsted in that it inspects schools and produces reports - where the ISI is different is that if focusses on independent schools, and it does not produce a single word rating ('outstanding', 'good', etc).

New headteacher Lee Richardson was appointed just as the school received the report; he aims to continue the great work highlighted by the team of assessors.

A school spokesperson said both the new appointment and the 'glowing' report were causes for a 'double celebration'.

Mr Richardson said: "Whilst the new inspection framework no longer gives overall headline judgement to schools, it does allow inspectors to highlight excellence when they find it.

"Very few schools have been awarded a 'significant strength' thus far, so we are very pleased to join the select group to whom such a plaudit has been awarded."

He added: "The report commends the school for our inclusive, values-driven ethos and the diverse and enriching educational experiences we offer to all pupils.

"It brings positive recognition to the hard work and dedication of our pupils, staff and governors and I would like to pass on my thanks to them all.

"As the new headteacher, I pledge to build on our strong foundation of mutual respect, care, tolerance and kindness for every pupil – and, of course, excellent academic results."
