Plans have been submitted to convert a former business on Hillgate into new ground floor apartments.

The proposals would see the former North West Digital printers repair store at 29-31 Middle Hillgate converted into two new self-contained flats.

The business has since relocated. Find more information on the North West Digital website HERE.

One apartment would have two beds, the other just one. Both would add to the six existing flats already in the building.

As part of the plans, the glass frontage of the business would be modified, and the building would have a rear extension to increase floor space in the two new ground-floor flats.

The applicant argued that the development would: "Create new quality flats in line with government targets;

"Occupy the vacant commercial units and bring more residents to the area, helping to improve business;

"[And] bring this vacant property back into occupation but with residential use."

Stockport Council's decision on the plans is expected later in July. The consultation expiry date for neighbours is 30 June.
