The historic Three Shires building has started an exciting new chapter - as a new café and bar.

Brew32 opened on Monday 18 August at 32 Great Underbank, serving coffee, breakfasts, cakes, and more.

The new spot aims to 'breathe new life' into the historic building, which has been left closed and unoccupied for around a year.

Already, there has been an extensive but sympathetic renovation; Brew32 founder James says the design aims to bring 'light' to the building, with a 'mix of old and new'.

The historic timber frames and little bits of Tudor-age charm are still visible, but with a new contemporary edge - there's even a new al fresco outdoor seating area out front.

It's helped to revitalise a Stockport asset - and that's not the only piece of Stockport that Brew32 has been supporting.

The new cafe has also been supporting Stockport businesses by sourcing its produce locally.

The meat - used in bacon butties, breakfasts and more - comes from Caldwells Butchers and Delicatessen in Davenport.

Similarly, the bread comes from Pure Kitchen bakery, just a stone's throw down the road near Chestergate.

Cakes are made by Tracy's Cakes, and even the artwork which decorates the interior is made by nearby artists.

"We just want to support the community and other independent businesses as much as we can", James explains.

Nor is it just cakes, bakes and coffees on offer.

From midday, visitors can also browse a pretty extensive and eclectic range of beers, all hand-picked with a view to offering something you might not be able to find elsewhere in Stockport.

As James adds: "We've been looking to start somewhere around here for a while, so it's so good to finally be open.

"It's been a lot of work, but hopefully people will love it. [...]

"And you can come for drinks in the evening, if you're looking for something more relaxed than a late-night bar."

Brew32 is open from 9am-4pm Monday to Thursday, and 9am-10pm Friday to Sunday.
