It's good news for headbangers across Stockport, as a new bar and music venue has opened in the town centre.

Holy Diver - based at 1 Prince's Street - opened on 29 November, and has already hosted some top gigs and events with plenty more in the pipeline.

It specialises in heavy music - punk, grunge, metal, heavy rock and more, from both local and touring bands.

"I want to create another home for live music in Stockport", said Joseph Patten, Holy Diver's owner. "And to have a place for the alternative crowd.

"I love the alternative scene", Joseph explained. "It's so loyal and close-knit. We're hoping we can build a long-term community here."

The venue is open from Thursdays through to Sundays. And best of all, you can catch a lot of the bands for free - you'll be supporting live music without even having to buy tickets.

Further still, Holy Diver also hosts club nights running until 2am, with DJs - a surefire way to hear some heavy bangers.

There's also an upstairs section due to open in full soon, which will feature even more magic for music fans.

Upcoming events as of the time of writing include Meteora (a Linkin Park tribute band), who'll be playing on Friday 13 December (doors from 7pm). This event is free, so turn up early to get your spot!

You can stay up to date with Holy Diver's upcoming events on their INSTAGRAM and FACEBOOK pages.
