New Afro-Caribbean supermarket opens in Stockport town centre
By Alasdair Perry 2nd Jun 2026
Stockport's food options have got that bit more exciting.
That's because a new Afro-Caribbean store - DOA Foods - has opened at 2A Great Underbank.
After opening on Saturday 30 May, they've already proved hugely popular with locals and visitors alike.
The shop stocks a huge range of items - fresh food and vegetables, non-perishable items like delicious sauces, pastes, beans and fish, accessories, and much more.
There's familiar favourites like Nigerian Guiness and Jamaican Ackee through to some more unique items which are hard to come by outside of Africa and the Caribbean.
There's even a kitchen open on Wednesday through Saturday offering the likes of Jollof rice, plus a wide range of other tasty fresh-cooked dishes.
The team explained that they're looking forward to joining the Stockport community and contributing to it.
The business describes itself as a 'one stop shop' for authentic African and Caribbean groceries.
They promise to offer competitive prices premium quality staples, all sourced from trusted suppliers.
This new shop builds on the existing success of DOA's original store in Openshaw.
Their opening times are:
- Monday - Saturday: 8am-7pm
- Sunday: 11am-5pm
You can browse their shop online here.
