M&S have announced that their new Simply Food store on Stockport Retail Park will be opening in less than two months.

The retailer stated on social media that the store is currently busy recruiting new members in preparation for the store opening in Summer.

The new M&S Food Hall will occupy the site of the old Next store.

It will stock the full M&S Simply Food range, and offer Click & Collect service.

M&S retail operations director Sacha Berendji expressed his hopes that the new store would provide an excellent service for Stockport residents and create new jobs.

He issued the following statement: "Whilst other retailers go online, or sadly disappear, we are committed to having great shops.

"This means having the right store, in the right place, with the right space to serve our customers the way they want to shop today.

"We're really pleased to confirm our plans to invest in Stockport by opening a new M&S Foodhall that will create around 70 new jobs for the local economy and will offer local customers a brilliant place to shop our wide range of M&S Food products."
