Daisy, Elodie, Isla and Muhammad are currently the most popular baby names in Stockport.

That's according to new data released by the Office for National Statistics, which measured the most commonly occurring names based on birth registration data throughout 2025.

Throughout 2025, Stockport mums gave birth to 30 Muhammads, making it the most popular name for boys.

As for girls, Daisy, Elodie and Isla came in joint first, with 15 new residents each.

The top three favourite names for boys nationally are Muhammad, Noah and Leo respectively.

As for girls, it's Olivia, Lily and Amelia.

Olivia has held the top spot nationally for 10 years running, whilst Muhammad has been the most popular for the last three years.

Clare Green, who writes for baby-naming website Nameberry, told the BBC: "Change happens so slowly at the top and once a name becomes popular it normally stays there for quite a long time.

"[Names] can build momentum - the more people give their child a name, the more other parents hear it and like the sound of it, so it snowballs."
