Police in Stockport have seized offensive weapons and thousands of illegal vapes as part of the latest 'day of action'.

Police seized a further £30,000 of illegal vapes, not long after having secured £11,000's worth on an earlier day of action in November. Officers also recovered knuckle dusters and stolen mobile phones.

The day of action formed part of Operation Rimini, which Greater Manchester Police described as "a dedicated operation to tackle retail crime and ASB".

Stockport Council Trading Standards officers were also involved in the operation.

Sergeant James Senior said: "We carry out these days of action in response to feedback from traders.

"We are always out and about in the town centre all the time but these days of action allow us to commit extra resources to addressing concerns and tackling criminality.

"We will be continuing the action this year and throughout 2024."
