Merseyway shopping centre will host some free creative workshops this weekend (7-8 September). 

The workshops will take place in the covered mall, and will include drawing, writing, printing, gardening, and more. 

They will take place from 11am-3pm on Saturday and Sunday, and will be suitable for all ages.

One of the events will be a community art project, which visitors are invited to take part in. They can write, draw, or even use risograph print to create a collaborative art piece celebrating Stockport's history. 

For this event, some of Stockport's historical archives will be on hand for some inspiration. 

The council intends for a special edition copy to be made of the finished piece, to be displayed in Stockroom - the new library and cultural space opening in spring 2025. 

Another event will be the "emotional biodiversity workshop", where visitors will get the chance to "get [their] hands dirty and dig deep into Stockport's rich soil, unearth and decorate roots and bulbs, and create an entirely new species of bulb and plant life".
