If you're looking for an example of bravery, determination and selflessness, look no further than local lad Olly.

This 11-year-old has raised around £5,000 to help find a cure for Motor Neurone Disease (MND), doing so through a range of fund-raising activities.

He has braved wind and rain, completed 15 kilometre walks, hosted market stalls, and more, showing bravery and initiative beyond his years.

In one of his first fundraising efforts last year, Olly walked all the way from his home in Romiley to Poynton, where his granddad was receiving special palliative care at a nursing home for MND.

"Olly wanted to show his Grandad how much he loves him, whilst raising money for a cure for MND", said Olly's mum, Kelly.

"He walked for hours in the cold, wind and rain, and raised over £4,000."

Having recently lost his granddad to MND, Olly's determination to find a cure for the disease only continues.

He recently had a market stall in Romiley village last Saturday (1 July) and raised over £755, and is also hosting a stall at his primary school on Saturday 15 July, asking for donations for MND wristbands and pin badges.

Further still, he plans to walk 25 kilometres on bonfire night to raise more money.

Inspired by his granddad, Olly has in turn proved an inspiration for many others.

As Kelly says: "It's been overwhelming to witness Olly do so much despite having Ehlers Danlos Syndrome.

"The generosity from friends, family and strangers has been overwhelming, and it is something he never takes for granted."

In recognition of his remarkable achievements, Olly has been shortlisted for a BBC Radio Make a Difference Award - he will find out in September if he has won.

His fundraising efforts will continue in earnest.
