Marple-based designer among finalists for UK's greatest small businesses

A Marple-based business is in the running for a prestigious national award.
Leyla Alexander Design is a finalist at the Small Awards, which aims to champion the UK's greatest small firms, across all sectors.
Founded by Leyla Alexander in 2020, the business offers brand and graphic design to other small businesses across the region.
She's one of only eight other finalists in the Sole to Sole category, which is looking for the best self-employed small business owner.
The winner of this category - and 10 others - will be judged by a panel of industry experts.

Results will be announced at an awards ceremony in London on 22 May 2025.
Speaking of her shortlist, Leyla said: "When I took the leap and launched my studio back in 2020, I had no idea where it would lead — I just knew I wanted to do work that meant something.
"I'm so proud to be shortlisted for the Sole to Sole Award, and so grateful to the inspiring small businesses who trust me to bring their brands to life."
Michelle Ovens CBE, Founder of Small Business Britain, added: "Every year, the Small Awards celebrate the UK's most inspiring small business owners, who are the heart of their communities, and are fuelling the nation's economic growth.
"The awards are a great opportunity to recognise the success and contributions of so many small businesses - Leyla is extremely deserving of being a finalist, and we look forward to celebrating together in May."
