An adult male has been arrested following an incident at Grand Central swimming baths.

On Saturday 15 July, the male entered the premises of the baths, and took a mobile phone and bank card from a staff area - he went on to use the stolen card at a local shop.

Thanks to tracking software on the device itself, the phone was recovered and the offender was located and arrested.

The male has been interviewed, and charged and remanded today (18 July) for offences of burglary and fraud by false representation.

With the victim of the burglary reunited with her phone, police emphasised the importance of setting up tracking software on your own device.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police Stockport said: "The swift recovery of this mobile phone was down to tracking software on the device itself. If your device has software like 'Find my iPhone' or 'Find my device', it takes a short period of time to set up and can mean the difference between getting your device back or not."
