A local lad has completed an epic walking challenge for charity.

Throughout October and November, Johnny Shepherd walked three miles per day in support of Supportability, a local charity which supports people living with complex physical and learning disabilities.

He walked 136 miles throughout Stockport borough - including Reddish Vale Country Park, Middlewood Way, the Macclesfield Canal and Stockport town centre - and raised £300 in doing so.

Johnny himself is one of the people who the charity supports, so this is a particularly meaningful challenge for him.

The money he has raised will go towards a new games console for Supportability's day centre in Heaton Moor.

And the fundraiser is still open - you can donate HERE.

Far from just a hobby, gaming can have massive benefits, especially for those living with disabilities.

As Dawn Cameron - a manager at Supportability - says: "Gaming has significant benefits for people with disabilities.

"These include improved wellbeing by creating social connections, enhanced motor skills, improved creativity, better cognitive abilities and problem solving."

Jane Porter, a support worker who walked with Johnny on some of his trips, says:  “We’re so proud of Johnny and what he’s achieved.

"He thoroughly enjoyed his walks and there were lots of fun and laughter. The money raised will go towards something he and his friends in the Day Centre can enjoy together.”

Once again, while Johnny is taking a well-earned rest, the fundraiser is still open you can donate HERE.

Extra donations will pay for a few more games, such as quizzes and physical games such as tennis and bowling.
