Local beauty spot named among best National Trust sites to visit

Lyme Park has been named among the best National Trust sites to visit this half-term.
That is according to a new study carried out by Fruity King, who analysed all 610 National Trust locations.
Each site was given a score based on the number of facilities and accessibility features available.
Lyme Park claimed the number 30 spot, with a score of 12 for facilities and 12 for accessibility, both out of 20.
A spokesperson for Fruity King commented on the study: "This list of National Trust sites gives visitors a quick indication of which heritage spots offer the most variety to guests, and how accessible each site is."
Although just outside Stockport borough, Lyme Park is a popular day out destination for local residents.
Much of the current building dates from the early 18th century, but there has been a hunting lodge on the site since the middle ages.
The design is an interesting mix of ebullient baroque flourish and classical palladian order and symmetry.
Taking the number one spot for the whole list was Quarry Bank Mill in nearby Styal, with an overall score of 33.
