99% pass rate for Aquinas College, with 58% A*-B

Aquinas College has announced a 99% pass rate for its students, with 58% achieving at least A* to B. In addition, 70% of Vocational grades were at Distinction* or Distinction grades with a 100% pass rate.

Danny Pearson, principal of Aquinas College, said he was 'thrilled' with the 'amazing' results.

Mr Pearson added: "Whether students have done A levels, vocational subjects or a combination of the two, their results have been fantastic and topped last year's highest ever performance by an Aquinas cohort.

"This is a fitting conclusion to the hard work and endeavour they have shown over their whole school and college career. The skills, habits and virtues that they have developed over the last two years with us, gives us great confidence that they will go on to progress into positive futures and careers.

Stockport Council sends best wishes to students

Stockport Council has announced its congratulations to students across the borough who are receiving their results today.

Councillor Wendy Meikle, Cabinet Member for Education, said: "I would like to congratulate all of the students of Stockport who are receiving their GCSE and A level over the next few weeks.

"Well done, it's an incredible achievement for you all and one that I'm sure your families, friends and teachers will be extremely proud to be a part of. This is an exciting time for you all as you make your choices and take your next steps into education, vocational training or employment, and make your way in the world."

"Hopefully you will have achieved the grades that you required for your chosen career path, but if not, please do not panic. There is advice and guidance through your school or college and a range of options and support available in Stockport."

The council advises that if you've just received your results, and you're unsure about next steps, the careers information page could be a good place to start.

It's also normal to feel down if you haven't achieved the results you'd like. If you feel you need some support, the council suggests Kooth.com (ages 10-25) or Qwell.io (26+). These are online spaces with non-judgemental, anonymous help from an online community, as well as direct messaging with qualified professionals.
