Legendary folk rockers Steeleye Span to take to appear in Stockport this April
By Alasdair Perry 2nd Apr 2026
Legendary folk rockers Steeleye Span will be taking to the stage at Stockport Plaza this month.
The band will call at Stockport as part of the tour for their new album 'Conflict' on Thursday 23 April.
Conflict is the band's first studio album in five years. It draws on the 'rockier' side of the band's sound, whilst remaining true to their folk heritage.
A reviewer from Get Ready to Rock said the record was " another fine album that meets and exceeds the band's own high musical standards".
Steeleye Span formed in 1969 and have since then become a British folk rock institution.
The current lineup is: Maddy Prior; Julian Littman; Liam Genockey; Andrew 'Spud' Sinclair; Roger Carey; and Athena Octavia.
A description for the Plaza show reads: "All traditional singers have sung modern and self-composed pieces alongside old songs, Conflict is an album that follows in that very tradition.
"The album's title was chosen as much to reflect the times we find ourselves in, but also the stretch and tear of our relationship with this planet that hosts us."
Some tickets are still available in the stalls, from £32.50. Get your tickets here.
Doors open at 7.30pm.
