Legendary steam train the Flying Scotsman made a rare appearance at Stockport railway station this afternoon (Tuesday 2 June).

The famed loco, which became the first to reach 100mph in 1934, dazzled onlookers as it passed through the station around 3.25pm.

It was being towed on its way to the East Lancashire Railway in Bury.

It also passed the stations at Hazel Grove (3:05pm), Woodsmoor (3:08pm) and Davenport (3:09pm), the headed along the 'Ghost Train' line to Reddish South.

Officials say the world's most well-known train will be staying on the East Lancs for the next two weekends.
