Just a few days left to have your say on Stockport 8 plans
Stockport town centre residents have until 1 September to respond to plans for Stockport 8 - a new town centre development.
It comes as part of a public consultation on the plans, hosted by the developers.
The masterplan involves a massive redevelopment of areas on either side of King Street West, close to Stockport Viaduct.
This will see the construction of 1,200 new homes, plus shops, a square, markets, and other commercial spaces.
It means 'low quality' buildings already in the area - such as the Stagecoach depot - will be demolished.
Residents are asked simply to give their thoughts on the masterplan. A link on the Stockport8 website offers space to type your thoughts.
Developers have already made some modifications to the Stockport 8 masterplan following an earlier consultation.
As it stands, the masterplan promises to build a range of homes (for residents 'at every stage of life'), along with independent shops and other amenities such as dentists and pharmacies.
The plan also promises plenty of green and outdoor space, and a building layout which doesn't compromise views of the viaduct, or the existing history of the area.
Furthermore, the plan seeks to address congestion in the surrounding busy road network, whilst providing easy access for bicycles and pedestrians. This includes a pedestrian-only street which runs through the centre of the scheme.
You can give your views on how well the developers have responded to previous consultations - that is, if you took part in those, too.
