Welcome to Stockport Nub News – the latest addition to the growing number of free, online local newspapers from Nub News

Edited by local journalist Alasdair Perry, our latest site exemplifies the ethos of Nub News by putting local news and community support first.

We want to promote local businesses, traders and charities, while also keeping readers up to date with the latest headlines across Stockport.

We are confident that Stockport will mirror the huge success of nearby Crewe Nub News. Launched over two years ago our Crewe website is now the 'go to' place for local residents who want to know what is happening on their doorstep.

We have fulfilled our pledge to put their town in their pocket – with more than 25,000 readers a week (and 9,000 newsletter subscribers) already checking out our Crewe news pages.

We hope to do the same thing for the people of Stockport.

And Nub News isn't just about breaking new stories. Our What's On page keeps locals up to date with events in the area, we feature local job vacancies, the local property market and offer a comprehensive guide to local companies through our free-to-use local business directory

We will also include obituaries, such an important feature of local newspapers.

And we invite you, the people of Stockport, to contribute via our easy-to-use unique 'Nub It' buttons (NewsWhat's On and Business Directory) which allow you to share your news, views and information directly to the local community – for free.

None of this would be possible though without the support of local businesses keen to engage with their communities.

Across the Nub News network we partner with community-minded companies, from care homes to estate agents, offering them bespoke sponsorship packages.

Our sponsors recognise the unique commitment for quality and localness in the areas we serve. If you have a business in Stockport, please talk to us about how we could help promote and grow your business. We work on an industry sector exclusive basis so we only partner with one solicitor, mortgage broker, care home etc. Beat your competitors and partner with Stockport Nub News first. We have limited availability. Contact our sales team on [email protected]

We've also linked up nationally with the Co-op network of businesses on the back of a shared commitment to strong social values and local engagement.

We need your help to succeed though.

As well as providing a regularly updated, easy-to-read news site free from clickbait, pop-ups, and intrusive surveys, we harness the power of social media, with easy-to-follow channels on Facebook. Sharing the news on your doorstep quickly and efficiently is important to us. Please follow us on Facebook. We need your support and action.

And why not sign up for our FREE weekly newsletter here? In it we feature not just the best of the week's news but also events, jobs and property – it's a one-stop shop if you want to really know what's going on.

We're delighted to be here to serve the community of Stockport and we look forward to emulating our success elsewhere across the country – bringing you the very best of your town, right to your phone, tablet or PC.

If you have a story you would like us to cover contact our news team via this link and we will respond quickly.
