Inside Highballer - Stockport town centre's new pop-up indie bar

A new pop-up indie bar has opened in Stockport town centre.
Named 'Highballer', the new spot is based on Market Place on the site of Amp.
The pop-up offers a great drinks spot, delicious burgers, top music, darts and pool, plus live events such as bandaoke.
We spoke to owner Neil to learn more.
"It's been inspired by the kinds of places you'd see in East London", Neil said. He himself has run bars in London and so has brought his experience to this corner of the Pennines.

The spot certainly offers the buzzy atmosphere you'd expect from the likes of a classy brick-clad Hackney bar, and at the same time maintains an atmosphere which is welcoming and not overwhelming.
On the jukebox are classics from the Indie / Rock / Alternative genre from the 1960s through to the modern day.
The bar is a pop-up, meaning it'll be open for around three months.
"It's exciting to be part of the regeneration in Stockport", Neil adds. "It's becoming a really popular weekend destination.
"Our staff are from Stockport, so we've definitely got a good connection to the area."

And there's peace of mind in knowing that those same staff recently finished second in a speed bartending competition, so you can be pretty sure of fast service.
One of the things in the calendar over the next few days for Highballer is a Beatles all-day bash on Sunday 23 March, where the venue will be spinning all the classics from the Fab Four and offering some unique cocktails to boot. And this event is free entry!
The bar is open on weekends until late. Find more information on their Instagram page here.
