Police detectives have found what they believe to be human remains near the M67, close to Tameside and Reddish.

Officers were called to the scene after 11pm on Monday 3 August by road workers, who made the discovery while near a bridge between junctions three and four.

Greater Manchester Police has said it is working with specialist teams to 'understand the circumstances' behind this incident.

The M67 will be closed between junctions three and four while detectives carry out an investigation.

Police have advised residents avoid the area, and have said they will provide updates when they have them.
