Highly-rated Didsbury cafe to open new branch in Stockroom - Stockport town centre's new library

Mercado - a popular cafe in Didsbury - will be operating a new cafe from Stockroom.
Stockroom is Stockport town centre's new library and cultural space. It will open on 24 May.
The cafe will offer a wide range of hot and cold drinks, plus a world-spanning menu featuring paninis, Argentinian empanadas, pastries, and much more.
In doing so, Mercado aims to contribute to Stockport's 'growing food and drink scene', Stockport Council has said.
Mercado has already built a strong reputation at its Didsbury site, boasting an immaculate five stars in TripAdvisor and a nearly flawless 4.9 stars on Google Reviews.
The cafe has also picked up multiple TripAdvisor Awards (2022, 2023, 2024), and is ranked as Manchester's top spot for tea, coffee, and desserts. It has even secured a place in the finals of the England Business Awards for 'Best Café'.

Stockroom is a £14.5m project which aims to "breathe new life into the heart of the town centre". It's located in disused retail units in the Merseyway Centre.
As well as the library and cafe, Stockroom will have creative spaces, historical archives, and more.
There will also be places to host events such as poetry readings and live music, plus areas for children and 'cutting-edge' IT facilities.
Stockport Central Library will remain open, but main provision will be moving to Stockroom.
It means that Central Library will operate in a lesser capacity than it currently does; however, it will remain open to provide adults' education services, WiFi and computers, as well as a selection of other fiction and non-fiction books.
