A dedicated employee is raising money for Heatons Cats after the charity has had a 'tough few months'.

Victoria Smith, who works at Heatons Cats, will be taking on a half marathon in support of this "small but mighty rescue and rehoming charity".

Already, she's raised over £800 for the charity, which she says is very close to her heart.

"I see every day just how much care and dedication goes into giving cats a second chance", she explains.

"Many of the cats who come through our doors have had a tough start in life, and the charity relies entirely on donations to cover essentials like food, medical care and keeping the shelter running."

Heatons Cats raises money through a variety of different methods - most of it comes from their shop on Manchester Road.

However, the shop has been closed for major refurbishments, and without the income from the business, the charity is struggling.

Not least because of the need to cover some extra medication after a minor infection, and emergency vet care for some of the animals. All of these unexpected costs have put a huge strain on already limited funds.

This is why Victoria has picked up her running shoes to try and give the charity a much-needed boost.

Victoria added: "This half-marathon is no small thing for me (especially after picking up knee issues during my last 10k run!), but it feels worth it to push through for a cause I care about so deeply.

"If you're able to donate, no matter how small, every penny goes straight to helping the cats and making sure they get the love and care they deserve."

Once again, you can donate to Victoria's fundraiser here.
