Heaton Moor's The Moor Top has re-opened following refurbishment and a change in management.

The pub, on Heaton Moor Road, re-opened yesterday (22 February) with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The pub had been closed since September 2023; it will now operate as a 'Hive Plus' pub, owned by Greene King but managed independently.

Present at the ceremony was local blues legend Norman Beaker.

Just before cutting the ribbon, Norman said: "We hope it's going to be a big success. It's a great pub, one that I've been coming to for about 50 years.

"I'm sure it's going to be a great place. It's really good to have a great pub back at this end of the moor!"

Speaking last year, as refurbishments were underway, a spokesperson for The Moor Top said: "This great community pub [will open] under the Hive Pubs umbrella, with classic pub food, an excellent drinks range, entertainment and live sport, following a full refurbishment in the New Year."

In the past, this prominent Heaton Moor establishment was well-known for its food, quiz nights and its 'bubbles and bingo' events.
