The Rising Sun in Hazel Grove - no doubt known to many as the final stop on the famous Wellington Road pub crawl - will re-open on Friday (22 March).

The pub, based at the corner of Buxton Road, has been closed since 12 March for refurbishment.

It will re-open this Friday with a special ceremony, starting from 6pm

In the meantime, artists have been hard at work redecorating.

Not only has the pub had a refit indoors, but it has also had a dramatic makeover outside. A Lowry-inspired artwork makeover, to be precise.

The pub's exterior now features paintings of iconic Stockport landmarks, from Market Hall to the Viaduct, replete with matchstalk men (and matchstalk cats and dogs, if you will).

Stay up to date with the artists' work and the progress of the refit on the Rising Sun's Facebook page HERE.
