Hazel Grove library to get complete refurbishment
By Alasdair Perry 3rd Nov 2026
Hazel Grove library will soon undergo a complete refurbishment.
The library, which local councillors describe as needing some 'TLC', will close temporarily from 22 November for an extensive transformation with a new interior, roof, and heating system.
The library will remain closed until summer 2027 while works are carried out.
During that time, reservations and returns will continue as normal from the nearby High Lane library.
The community rooms at the back of the library will also remain open while works are carried out.
Hazel Grove's Lib Dems group said on social media: "Many of us use the library on a regular basis, so we know this will cause some disruption, but this work is needed and will ensure the library is secured for the long term future."
Cllr Jake Austin added: "We will keep you updated as the work is ongoing, and when we're expected to have the library back open again.
"It's good news, because it means this library is now seeing some major investments that mean we will be able to keep it going for a very long time to come."
