Stockport residents are being asked for their opinions on cycling and walking routes in the west of the town centre.
Locals have until 7 December to respond to proposals for a new cycling and walking network across the Town Centre West area, linking up Stockport Interchange, the railway station, Edgeley and Stockport College.
Stockport Council is providing details on the plans and then asking residents to respond to questions.
The questions ask to what extent participants agree with the proposals, and also offers space for comments and more detailed feedback.
Specifically, the council is looking for feedback on
- The Edgeley Active Travel Corridor - a plan to connect the Trans-Pennine trail at Stockport Interchange to Stockport railway station, Stockport College, Castle Street and Edgeley Park. The scheme includes separate walking and cycling routes and Toucan crossings.
- Hollywood Park Access Improvements - plans to improve access through Hollywood Park with junction and path improvements, including from Wood Street to Ealing Road.
- Stockholm Road / Adswood Road Junction - to connect residential streets via the first CYCLOPS (Cycle Optimised Protected Signals) junction in Stockport, with off-carriageway cycling facilities from Adswood to Davenport.
- Alexandra Park Access – improved access to Alexandra Park via junction improvements and crossing improvements at Dale St, and upgrades to the Reservoir Road Path.
A council spokesperson said: "This consultation is about our ambitious proposals which aim to join all this infrastructure up to create a connected network of walking and cycling routes across the Town Centre West area linking the existing and proposed Town Centre West developments, Stockport Station, Hollywood Park, Castle Street, Stockport College and Edgeley Park and providing further improved links to Alexandra Park, Davenport and Adswood.
"We want to know what you think of the proposals and would appreciate you taking the time to provide your feedback."
