Stockport Homes has reclaimed possession of a property at Durham House on York Street, following a closure order in September 2023.

The order was obtained on 13 September 2023, following "an escalation in reports of serious anti-social behaviour occuring at the property which was having a detrimental effect on the local residents".

Greater Manchester Police initially closed the premises for three months, extended later to six months. The house is now ready to be used as a dwelling once again.

Stockport Homes, which manages the property, worked alongside Greater Manchester Police to gather evidence to take legal action against the property and its tenant.

A spokesperson for Stockport Homes said: "Possession of this property will reassure residents and the local community that anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated, and action will be taken against those who commit [it]".

John Bowker, Executive Director of Operations at Stockport Homes, said: "Every resident deserves to feel safe and secure within their homes. That's why we're committed to working closely with the council and Greater Manchester Police to address any instances of anti-social behavior decisively and firmly.

"This closure order grants our residents a much-needed respite and affirms our ongoing commitment to safeguarding their security by unequivocally condemning such behavior."
