Flood alerts have been issued by GOV.UK for areas around Stockport, in light of heavy rain over the weekend and further rainfall expected this afternoon (19 June).
Areas affected include Cheadle, the Micker Brook and Ladybrook valley, and the confluence of the Micker (Norbury) Brook and the Poynton Brook.
A map of the affected area is available HERE.
Residents in these issues are advised: "Flooding is possible - be prepared."
A statement from GOV.UK reads: "Small, flashier rivers and streams may respond to heavy rainfall. Given the unpredictable nature of thunderstorms, there is low confidence in the locations and impacts of rainfall at this point.
"Areas most at risk are low lying agricultural land, roads and footpaths close to small rivers and streams. Water levels could rise rapidly and potentially generate deep, fast flows.
"We are closely monitoring the situation. Our incident response staff are monitoring watercourses in the area.
"Please plan driving routes to avoid low-lying roads near rivers which may be flooded, and see the GOV.UK website for a five day flood forecast."
Residents can sign up for flood warnings on GOV.UK HERE.
For preparedness if flood alerts have been issued, GOV.UK advises having a bag ready with vital items like insurance documents and medications in case you need to leave your home.
Similarly, residents are advised to check how to turn off your gas, electricity and water mains supplies.
