Fire crews tackle blaze at chip shop in Heaton Moor

Fire crews were called to a blaze at the Seashell Chippy yesterday (Sunday 16 June) in Heaton Moor.

Firefighters arrived at the premises on Derby Range just before 4pm, and were in attendance for around two hours. The fire was extinguished and the nearby properties were made safe.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "At just before 4pm on Sunday, three fire engines from Manchester Central, Cheadle and Offerton fire stations were called to a fire involving a commercial premises on Derby Range, Heaton Moor.

"Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire and made the premises and adjoining properties safe. Crews were in attendance for around two hours."

Business records at the Seashell Chippy show that it has been trading since 1897, making it the world's second oldest fish and chip shop.
