Fire crews called to town centre to rescue man on roof

Crews from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) rescued a man who was stuck on a roof in Stockport town centre yesterday (21 March).

The man was on the roof of a shop on Little Underbank - he was rescued by crews from GMFRS, using rope equipment and a ladder.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service (GMFRS) said: "At around 6.25am today (Thursday March 21) two fire engines from Whitehill and Stockport fire stations plus the technical response unit from Ashton fire station and an aerial appliance from Manchester Central fire station were called to reports of a man on the roof of a shop on Little Underbank, Stockport.

"Firefighters used rope rescue equipment and a ladder to rescue the man. Crews were in attendance for around 30 minutes."
