Edgeley's Alexandra Pub re-opens following refurbishment
The Alexandra Pub in Edgeley has re-opened following a refurbishment.
The historic building has undergone a restoration which aims to 'breathe new life', whilst respecting and preserving its original Victorian character.
Indeed, many of the changes have involved the rediscovery and restoration of original Victorian components.
For instance, the modern floor tiles in the gents' bathroom have been taken out to reveal the 'remarkable' original black and white tiles, which have been expertly cleaned and repaired.
Similarly, in the bar area, the removal of a low false ceiling has revealed the original ceiling and coving, restoring the space to its former grandeur.
Even the original glazed screen that once separated the bar from the pub's original 'off license' has been revived. This authentic feature now forms a backdrop to the new back bar.
The grade II listed pub is owned by Stockport's very own Robinsons Brewery.
"We're excited for the community of Edgeley and beyond to experience the new-look Alexandra," said Tony Massey, a manager at Robinsons.
"This refurbishment is a fantastic thing for the local area, and we're proud to have maintained the Alexandra's character as a true community pub whilst keeping its historical charm.
"I'd also like to thank Steve, our pub partner, for his great ideas and support throughout the process. We can't wait to welcome everyone in and see how much they enjoy the new space."
