A new office and co-working space has opened just a few metres from Stockport Pyramid.

Woolpack House, on the site of the former Olde Woolpack pub, opened in March 2024.

It features a wide range of offices, from independent desks for freelancers, through to spacious rooms for small to medium-sized businesses.

Each room is unique, preserving the historical fabric of this storied building. Indeed, much of the original brickwork is preserved and exposed, giving a time-worn feel with a contemporary edge.

Each office is equipped with top tech and modern decor.

There are also communal spaces throughout the building, with kitchens, balconies, and even a bar nestled in the top of the building.

As office operations manager Francisca explains, it means workers and freelancers from different businesses are afforded the opportunity to chat and move around a shared office.

To be sure, there is space to work in your own lane and at your own pace, but there is opportunity for socialising if you seek it.

It also means that different businesses in the office can work together on similar issues.

"People don't necessarily want to work at just desks", operations manager Francisca explains. "The communal areas mean you can collaborate but also just chat in an environment which has everything you need."

"Stockport is an emerging place", Francisca said. "It feels like a base for creatives - you only need to look around the town centre."
