A Cheadle woman is running the London Marathon in memory of her nephew Josh, who passed away aged 23.
Michelle Foster will take on all 26.2 miles of this impressive run, to raise money and awareness for younger people affected by cancer.
Her nephew, Josh Hallam, was diagnosed with chronic lymphoblastic leukaemia a few months before his 18th birthday. Over the ensuing years, Josh was cared for at the nearby Christie Hospital in Didbsury, living life to the full as much as possible.
When he passed away in 2015, a fund was set up in his memory. So far, that fund has raised an incredible £56,000 for The Christie Charity.
Michelle's challenge is no exception, and aims to keep the fundraising efforts going with full momentum.
Although she has already completed a few Manchester to Blackpool bike rides and a 10k run, the London Marathon will be her biggest physical challenge yet.
Speaking of her endeavour, she said: "I am running for The Christie Charity so other young people can receive the support and care they need during the most difficult time in their young lives. Josh would expect no less - although I do think he'd worry I'm too old for this!
"Cancer touches all our lives, and in the last few weeks a close friend has been diagnosed with cancer and is now being treated at The Christie and I'm reassured that she is being looked after by the best oncologists and treatment centre in the country."
