Stepping Hill Hospital's new urgent care campus has reached an important milestone, with the opening of new and improved staff facilities.

The new facilities include accommodation, larger workspaces, new rest areas, plus lockers and shower rooms.

It is the latest section of Stepping Hill's new urgent care campus to reach completion.

A Stockport NHS spokesperson said the new staff area is "designed to enhance team collaboration, professional development, and overall staff wellbeing".

The aforementioned urgent care campus is a larger project that includes extensive remodelling of the emergency department, with a focus on creating new assessment, treatment, and consultation areas.

It comprises 2,600 square meters of refurbished space and 1,300 square meters of new build facilities.

Additionally, the ambulance drop-off area has been redesigned for better accessibility and efficiency.

The new staff facilities will serve key emergency and urgent care services, including the children's emergency department, mental health services, and same-day emergency care.

Jackie McShane, Executive Director of Operations for Stockport NHS Foundation Trust said: "It was fantastic to both see and celebrate these new staff facilities. They're already providing a greatly improved environment from which our emergency and urgent care colleagues can provide care for our patients.

"We'd like to say a big thank you to our estates and capital project colleagues, Tilbury Douglas, and Stockport NHS Charity for making this possible."

Phil Shaw, a managing director at Tilbury Douglas said: "As a key NHS partner, our expertise in healthcare allows us to create spaces that truly meet the needs of medical professionals.

"The new staff accommodation at Stepping Hill Hospital exemplifies our commitment to supporting staff wellbeing and maintaining the high standards of care that the NHS is known for."
