A 16-year-old from Brinnington has been charged with eight counts of robbery.

The male, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was charged with eight counts of robbery, four counts of attempted robbery and obstructing a police officer.

It follows a series of robberies committed along the A6 and in Stockport town centre.

Chief Inspector John Picton said: "Stockport Police are relentless in their efforts to tackle robbery. We work around the clock to proactively identify, seek, and arrest those who commit crime and cause harm to our community.

"We are determined to continue our crackdown on criminality and anti-social behaviour to ensure Stockport remains a fantastic place to live, work and socialise."
